This project explores the creation of a bold visual identity and digital experience for Jump 10, a global streetball and culture festival held in Shanghai that brings together basketball, music, and youth culture from around the world.

JUMP 10: APP

One of the main challenges with the festival is that its athletes are not well-known, and it’s hard to be invested in the games and players as an audience member.

In response, I created a combination of a card-collecting and sports fantasy app. It serves as a hub for all things Jump 10, and each user has their own Starting 5: a team made up of 5 random players that they can unlock through Jump 10 Card Packs.

Each day of the festival, your Starting 5 will match up against 9 other Starting 5’s, and whoever’s team has the highest Jump Score at the end of the day wins an IRL prize, such as a signed Jump 10 Jersey!

Almost all of my type sketches were custom or at least adapted type, as I wanted to find the right tone for each visual direction. While some sketches concentrated on being bold, structured, and attention-grabbing, others tended toward a more free-flowing, street-style aesthetic inspired by the raw energy of street-ball culture. Through this method, I was able to investigate how typography alone may convey the essence of Jump 10 by striking a balance between personality, power, and movement, while keeping in mind how it could be adapted into the overall brand in the future.
